Is James Hardie siding worth it?
Living in New England and having all four seasons is beautiful, but takes a toll on the exterior of your siding. James Hardie siding has been working hard to build a product to stand up beautifully, whatever the region, climate, or element you choose to live in. However, the question is, is the price tag worth the product? Let’s discuss some of the unique features JH brings to the table with its products.
Something that caught my attention immediately when looking into the quality of James Hardie’s product is the HardieZone.
After studying the long-term effects different climates have on siding, the HardieZone system was created to ensure the right products for your region were received.
As you can see in the Image to the left, our NH zone would be HZ5, which provides a product that can handle extreme seasonal temperatures and year-round precipitation. These products have proprietary additives to reduce moisture intrusion, which helps with mold, shrinking, swelling, and cracking.
HZ10 was designed for mild winters, hot summers, and extreme UV exposure. These products are resistant to splitting, cracking, rotting, and swelling.
James Hardie prides itself on building better communities with a lower impact on our environment and built to last. They prioritized four key pillars – Communities, Environment, Innovation, and Zero Harm.
- Environment – Promoting environmental excellence by reducing waste and the use of water and energy. 3.87M additional cubic feet of water recycled, 47% reduction in landfill waste, and 21% reduction in greenhouse gas intensity.
- Communities – 19% gender diversity in all management positions.
- Zero Harm– managing our zero harm safety culture that focuses on safe people, safe places, and a safe system.
- Innovation – embracing innovation by delivering solutions that help improve the lives of homeowners. 26% of revenue from products with Environmental Product Declarations.
When making such a major purchase, you want to ensure you are buying the best possible products. James Hardie invented fiber cement and remains the leader in the field. Your investment will bring you…
- Cost Savings – JH siding cost less than wood. It is water-resistant, and protects against swelling, cracking, and buckling. It also does not attract pests. The combination offers you a longer life on your siding.
- Climate Specific – As mentioned above JH has done a study to ensure that you are getting the specific siding for your climate and the elements that come along with it.
- Color that Lasts – Baked-on ColorPlus® Technology has greater resistance to fading, chipping, and cracking which in turn means less maintenance.
- Lower Insurance – Talk to your agent about your JH siding, there could be a discount because it is non-combustible and hail damage resistant.
- Great Warranties – JH siding comes with a 30-year, non-prorated warranty and trim products come with a 15-year non-prorated warranty.
- Fire Protection – JH is non-combustible and will not ignite when exposed to a direct flame, nor will it contribute fuel to a fire.
